As its name suggests, Pragmatic Grotesk is a ‘hyper-rational’ typeface. With functionality as the primary objective, Greg Lindy initially developed this font family for LA based designer Michael Worthington’s publication, Inside Out & Upside Down: Posters from CalArts 1980-2019. The dynamics of proportion, balance and space throughout the character set provide a cohesive tension in tone and manner that is articulated in a contemporised manner. Pragmatic is a typeface that is familiar yet surprises, adding a Southern Californian warmth to a generally cool classification.
